Work has been nutty lately, but there’s always time for WoW, I suppose. While many would assume I’m a hard core player, truth is, I’m pretty much off WoW when I’m not raiding. There’s nothing much to do in between the time where I’m raiding and I’m not raiding, and I would rather not spend it in WoW.
But here’s where achievements come in. It’s a time sink and you have to put in plenty of effort for them, but honestly? I couldn’t be arsed. I know folks who spend way too much time grinding achivements, trying to get titles and striving to obtain as many as they can for titles and mounts.
Fact is, it’s boring as hell. Even raid achievements, while interesting to tack on for when raiding, starts to not feel fun when you have folks who don’t focus and make even the simplest achivements hard. It’s probably a different story when you have 24 other really good players, though there are times where you wished you could just play the 2~3 players that are underperforming because you know you can just do better.
Generally speaking, I’m all for achivements that have nothing to do with grinding, and everything to do with challenge. That’s what makes Sarth3D fun and that’s what drives me on. Otherwise, I’m getting terribly bored with the game as it is. With Ulduar coming out next patch, it’d be interesting to see what happens, though from just reading the notes on WoW sites have led me to believe that it will be an interesting time for folks looking for something different at last.
